xxxxxHere are 2 tests to help you remember the two Japanese syllabaries - hiragana and katakana. Each test covers all the kana for each syllabary. The test will show you a kana and you must enter the correct romaji pronunciation.

xxxxxAnd, here is a test of the most common foreign loan words (外来語) rendered in katakana. The test presents you with a word in katakana and you can enter the romaji reading, or the meaning of the word.

xxxxxPlease select a level/test from the choices below. The tests for levels 3 & 4 contain 50 questions each, and those for levels 1 & 2 contain 100. The kanji are sorted in order of frequence of use - so the earlier tests contain more commonly-used kanji and the later ones less commonly-used ones. Questions in each test are presented in random order each time you load the page, so you can keep trying until you get them all right... xxxxxThe source for the vocabulary lists was www.jlpt-kanji.com which seems quite complete and is an excellent resource; these tests cover all the vocabulary listed on that site. Don't forget that the tests are cumulative, so for level 2 you need all the kanji tested in level 2 in addition to those required for levels 3 and 4. These tests were made using "Hot Potatoes 6" free quiz software and may not work on older browsers - but you can download the latest browsers for free with ease. xxxxxInstructions are included with each test. Character/Page Encoding should be shift-jis (japanese).
Note: I passed Levels 2 and 1 of the JLPT using only these tests and a couple of grammar books; hope it works for you too! |
